Best of 2018

It’s that time of year again…voting has officially opened up for Wisconsin Bride Magazine’s Best of 2018! For those of you that don’t know about the awards, it’s basically the Oscar’s of the wedding industry with the red carpet, fabulous evening gowns and paparazzi shouting your name. Ok, so maybe I’m exaggerating a little, but being nominated for these awards is a big deal. That’s why I am so thrilled to have been nominated the past two years in the Best Custom Dressmaker category. In the spirit of “third time’s a charm”, I’m hoping this will be my year but I need your help!

It would mean the absolute world to me if you would take a minute to vote for Abby Lynn Bridal in the Best Custom Dressmaker and Best Accessories categories! At least six categories need to be filled in for your vote to count, so I listed a few of my favorite vendors below.

Best Bridal Gowns on a Budget: Bucci’s Bridal
Best Luxury Bridal Gowns: White Dress Bridal Boutique
*BEST CUSTOM DRESSMAKER: Abby Lynn Bridal*
*BEST ACCESSORIES: Abby Lynn Bridal*
Best Hair & Makeup: Lustrous Beauty Studio or Kabao Knanga Artistry
Best Officiant: Marry Me, LLC
Best Wedding Planner: Weddings With a Twist, LLC or Events to a T
Best Florist: Milwaukee Flower Company
Best Invitations: Coqui Paperie & Gifts
Best Videography: Mollica Films
Top of the Tiara: Elizabeth Urban Boudoir

Thank you so much in advance! Please leave me a comment below after you vote so I can personally thank YOU!

2018 Trend Predictions

As 2018 quickly approaches, I am so excited to share with you some of the upcoming trends you’ll likely be seeing this coming year.

CLEAN LINES
Move over lace and ruffles, the classic bride is back! Brides are looking for something different than the lace gown they’ve seen their friends get married in over the past ten years. Yes, lace will never truly go anywhere, but the simplistic modern look of a silk satin gown will be going full force in 2018. This gives brides a “blank canvas” to really shine their own personality and beauty through.

DRAMATIC BOWS
Going hand in hand with clean lines, big bows will be the way brides add drama to their gown in 2018. The sparkle sash is on decline with this modern add-on taking its place. Whether its a traditional shaped bow or more of an asymmetrical statement, this look will be turning heads in 2018.

COLORED GOWNS
Unique colors have been on the rise in bridal trends for several seasons and will continue going strong. Brides no longer feel the need to wear the classic white or ivory, but instead something that further shows off their personality and compliments their skin tone. Pastel tones including blush, lilac, and even dusty blues will be trending this year.

TWO IN ONE GOWNS
Brides are opting to change their look halfway through the day to help transition from the formality of the ceremony and family photos to dancing the night away at the reception. This can be done so many ways and brides are choosing to do so by adding a more conservative lace bolero for ceremony or taking off a ballgown overskirt to reveal a fitted dress for dancing. By changing up a couple accessories, brides are able to show their guests two completely different looks and for much less than purchasing two gowns.

As a clean lines, bow loving designer, I am thrilled to be seeing a shift in bridal style in 2018. You will be sure to see some of these trends in my 2018 collection along with a few other surprises. Any trends you are hoping will emerge this year? Any current trends you want to just go away? Share your thoughts below!

Welcome!

Hello all and welcome to Abby Lynn Bridal’s brand new website and blog! For those of you that don’t know me, it’s so nice to meet you! I am so excited to be formally launching and sharing my life and work with you. This brand has been a dream of mine ever since I first cut apart an old t-shirt to make dresses for my Barbies and I am thrilled it is finally becoming a reality. I would love for you to pop in once a month to read what’s coming up with the collection, see a day in the life of a small town designer, what’s on my mind, upcoming trends, and everything in between.

Until next time, here’s a little bit more about me!

  • I have two English Bulldogs, Spud & Tekka. They are my chunky fur babies and the loves of my life.
  • I eat chocolate every single day. Ice cream, cookies, cupcakes, I have a sweet tooth that just will not quit.
  • I love all things about the wedding industry and enjoy taking courses to learn more about all the facets that make up a wedding: photography, floral design, & calligraphy to name a few.
  • I am obsessed with the tv show Friends. It will forever be my favorite show and I can recite every line from every episode and I do (this might be why I usually watch the show alone).
  • My wardrobe mainly consists of black and gray with pops of burgundy. I have a burgundy colored everything: lipstick, shoes, purse, jeans, the list goes on and on.
  • I am a true Wisconsinite at heart and must rep my Packers jersey wherever I travel.
